Your investment will have a direct impact on their lives, and the future of families in the Upstate. We believe that families are the fertile soil from which all good things grow. Strong communities are built from the building blocks of strong families. Right now, though, our community is suffering because there are families suffering due to the effects of addiction. That is why the Family Effect is committed to providing hope for changed and to healing families affected by this so that addiction can be eliminated in our community. Why Donate?
1 in 4 children live in a home where alcohol is abused; and 1 in 8 children live in a home where other drugs are abused. Children who have been exposed to substance use often have trauma-related behavioral concerns and developmental delays. Without intervention, these children often perform poorly in mainstream school, enter the juvenile justice system or other institutional care, and are more likely to begin substance use at a young age.
But there is hope. With early identification and treatment, we can help these children “catch up” to other children their age. But our services extend beyond the children who are negatively impacted by substance use. Evidence-based services are available for the whole family. This family centered care is crucial to sustaining positive long-term outcomes for all of us.
